Before You Send

Do not send classified information, privileged legal material, or documents you are legally prohibited from sharing. If you are bound by an NDA, severance agreement, or employment contract, flag that before sending and do not send material in violation of it without speaking to us first.

If you need to communicate anonymously or more securely, contact us first at Tips@MaritimeLegalAid.com and we can discuss a safer channel before you send sensitive information.

What you can share

  • Shipboard misconduct, harassment, assault, retaliation, or safety failures
  • Coast Guard, MARAD, MSC, academy, employer, or union accountability leads
  • Documents, emails, messages, reports, photos, recordings, or public-record leads
  • Firsthand accounts from mariners, cadets, families, witnesses, or insiders

How we handle tips

  • We review submissions confidentially and may follow up for verification.
  • We do not publish your name or identifying details without your consent.
  • We may ask for documents, timelines, or corroborating information before reporting.
  • Submitting a tip does not create an attorney-client relationship.
