On the morning his historic sexual assault trial began in Brooklyn, the former ship captain was facing testimony from six women: the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy cadet he drugged and raped, her cadet sea partner, and four other women prepared to describe a pattern of sexual abuse reaching back twenty-seven years.
