AFOSI Asked NCIS to Interview a Civilian Seaman Aboard USNS Walter S. Diehl. The Extracted File Shows Only the Limited-Assistance Closure.

NCIS records say Air Force investigators asked for help locating and interviewing a civilian seaman aboard USNS Walter S. Diehl in connection with a sexual assault allegation. NCIS interviewed the seaman in Djibouti, collected fingerprints, photographs, and DNA, and closed its limited-assistance file, but the extracted record does not show the outcome of the underlying AFOSI case.

What the NCIS File Says

AFOSI asked NCIS to locate and interview a civilian seaman aboard USNS Walter S. Diehl in connection with a sexual assault allegation.

NCIS records say attempts to locate and interview the person in Bahrain were unsuccessful before agents later interviewed him in Djibouti.

The person denied culpability after Miranda advisement, and NCIS photographed him, fingerprinted him, and collected DNA for comparison.

The extracted file closed because the requested assistance for AFOSI had been completed. It does not show the result of the underlying AFOSI or California-law investigation.
