What the NCIS File Says

A USNS Trenton person reported that another USNS Trenton person grabbed her waist outside the gate to Naval Support Activity Gaeta, then moved his hands down to her buttocks and squeezed them.

Because the alleged incident happened off base in Italy, the Carabinieri had primary jurisdiction, and the reporting person filed with Italian law enforcement.

The NCIS report also says the same person was identified as a suspect in a separate wrongful-destruction investigation and a separate unrestricted sexual-assault report involving a different victim.

NCIS later learned the suspect had died on November 30, 2021, notified the Carabinieri for their case documentation, and closed while the Italian case was still awaiting magistrate closure.

Why This Record Matters

  • The case illustrates the jurisdictional complexity of off-base overseas allegations involving ship personnel.
  • The file is notable because it links the same suspect to other NCIS matters, but those underlying records are not included here.
  • NCIS closed because the suspect died and the Italian case was expected to close, not because the allegation was disproven.
